Iran, Pakistan to develop defensive cooperation

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian defense minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami has stressed on developing relations with Pakistan.

During Tuesday meeting with Pakistan's minister for defense production Rana Tanveer Hussain, General Hatami said, “The development of defensive cooperation between Iran and Pakistan will lead to increase security and stability in the region”.

General Hatami also stressed that Pakistan has a special position in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“The experience of recent years has revealed US criminal purposes and intentions for independent countries of the region. The United States and Zionist regime are the most dangerous and the biggest supporters of the terrorism in the region and the extremism originated from US policies in the region,” he said.

General Hatami hoped Pakistan as an important country in the world of Islam to play a positive role in the process of regional development as it has done in the past.

He then stressed that Iran is ready to develop its defensive and technical cooperation with Pakistan.
