Tehran (ISNA) – Declining any speculation on reports over a potential US withdrawal from the nuclear deal, EU spokesperson emphasized that the nuclear deal should be preserved.

“"We are not going to start speculating on any kind of scenario; our position in Europe on the nuclear deal is well known. It should be preserved and maintained,” EU spokesperson Catherine Ray told a news conference.

"It is bearing fruit and we continue to support this agreement and its implementation," she added.

EU foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini will convene a meeting with the foreign ministers of three European countries, France's Jean-Yves Le Drian, Germany's Sigmar Gabriel and the UK's Boris Johnson, as well as Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Brussels on Thursday, focusing on the Iranian nuclear deal.

Ray declined to comment if Thursday's meeting will also discuss the recent protests in Iran.
