4.2 magnitude earthquake hits Iran’s capital Tehran

Tehran (ISNA) – A 4.2 magnitude earthquake hit Iran’s capital Tehran and suburbs in early hours of Wednesday morning.

The quake struck at 00:54 local time on Wednesday on the border between Tehran and Alborz provinces, near the city of Malard.

The head of the Tehran City Crisis Management Organization said the earthquake had no effect on the capital's faults.

The Seismological Center of Iran recorded a magnitude 4.2 earthquake in the provinces of Tehran and Alborz in early hours of Wednesday morning.

This earthquake occurred 17km from Alborz and 42km from Tehran provinces.

The Tehran Emergency announced that this earthquake had one death and 57 wounded.
