Iran FM holds talks with Indian counterpart

Tehran (ISNA) - India's foreign minister Sushma Swaraj, who arrived in Tehran on Saturday, met her Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif.

In order to hold meetings with Iranian officials on regional and bilateral issues, the Indian foreign minister has traveled to Iran.

Referring to the good and growing relation between Iran and India, Zarif said during the meeting, “The opening of Chabahar's Shahid Beheshti Port not only strengthens the bilateral and regional cooperation, but also indicates the importance of the port in the regional development and connection routes of Central Asian countries with the other countries of the world through Sea of Oman and Indian Ocean”.

The Indian foreign minister for her part stressed on the importance of relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran and the need for deepening and developing the ties.

The two ministers have also exchanged views over the regional issues.
