Iranian runner wins men’s 3000m steeplechase at Asian Championships

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian runner Hossein Keyhani won the Asian championship title at men's 3000 meters steeplechase.

Hossein Keyhani set the time of 8 minutes and 43.82 seconds in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase claiming the gold medal.

It is Iran’s fourth gold medal in the 2017 Asian Athletics Championships.

Earlier in the tournament, the Iranian athletes had collected four medals, including three gold ones.

Ehsan Haddadi, Ali Samari and Hassan Taftian clinched three gold medals in discus throw, shot put as well as the 100-meter dash respectively.

Moslem Niadoost stood on the second podium in the 1,500-meter run as well.

The 2017 Asian Athletics Championships, which are the 22nd edition of the Asian Athletics Championships, opened in Bhubaneswar, India, on July 6 and will wrap up on July 9. Around 800 athletes from 45 countries have attended the event.
