Zarif to visit North Africa on Sunday

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will pay a visit to a number of North African countries.

“During the two-day visit, Zarif will head for Algeria, Mauritania and Tunisia and he meets not only his counterparts but also the countries’ presidents,” Iranian foreign minister spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said.

The visit comes at the official invitation of the mentioned countries.

“The purpose of the visit is to deepen the bilateral relations and develop the ties of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the mentioned countries. Consultation about the regional developments such as Syria and the Persian Gulf issues are among the aim of the visit,” he added.

“Regional developments need more solidarity among the Islamic countries and Iran believes that Muslim countries should be more united and integrated against divisive and sinister forces,” Ghasemi stressed.
