Iran, Norway hold 7th round of political consultations

Tehran (ISNA) – The 7th round of political consultations between Iran and Norway was held in Tehran.

During this meeting, Iranian delegation headed by deputy foreign minister for Europe and American Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi and Norwegian delegation headed by foreign minister Wegger Christian Strømmen discussed the ways to develop all-out ties particularly in economic, trade and technological cooperation fields.

Expressing satisfaction with the expansion of bilateral ties, Strømmen said: “regular exchanging views between officials of foreign ministry of the two countries, especially after the conclusion of JCPOA and sanctions removal, are useful and important, and the Norwegian side supports actively the implementation of the nuclear deal.”

Referring to the dedication of a major export credit line by Norwegian Export Credit Guarantee Agency, he expressed hope that the opportunity be used to expand bilateral economic relations.

Strømmen pointed to the doubling of the trade volume and economic ties between the two countries over the past year, calling for enhance cooperation, especially in the fields of oil, fisheries and agriculture.

“Oslo and Tehran enjoy good developments in relations which are on the right track” said Takht-Ravanchi, calling the continuation of politival consultations as important and effective.

“The two countries are needed to develop cooperation and pave the way for further cooperation in the field of superior technology, in addition to banking and finance” he added.

During this meeting, the two sides exchange views on regional and international development such as EU, Syria and Iraq.
