Iran, US Deputy FMs meet in Geneva

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian and US deputy foreign ministers met on the sidelines of the Geneva talks in Switzerland.

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian and US deputy foreign ministers met on the sidelines of the Geneva talks in Switzerland.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Abbas Araqchi and the US Under Secretary for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman met on Tuesday.

This is the first time that Iranian and G5+1 representatives are holding official bilateral meeting on the sidelines of nuclear talks.

They discussed nuclear issue and Iran's package of proposals.

Also another member of Iranian negotiating team Majid Takht Ravanchi and British Foreign Office Political Director Simon Gass are scheduled to meet on Wednesday to discuss Iran-UK bilateral ties as well as nuclear issue.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Swiss counterpart Didier Burkhalter are to hold talks on Wednesday as well.

Iran and the representatives of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany started talks on Tuesday at Nations Palace in Geneva, during which Iran presented a new package of proposals.

The EU Foreign Policy Chief Spokesman called atmosphere of talks positive and said the two sides discussed the details technically for the first time.
