Salehi, Annan discuss Syrian issue

TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and he Joint Special Envoy of the United Nations and the League of Arab States on the Syrian Crisis, Kofi Annan discussed Syrian issue ahead of Geneva talks on Syria.

TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and he Joint Special Envoy of the United Nations and the League of Arab States on the Syrian Crisis, Kofi Annan discussed Syrian issue ahead of Geneva talks on Syria.

Annan in a phone call with Salehi, Anna outlined the latest views on Geneva talks and stressed Iran's position and significant role in Syrian developments.

Salehi on his part outlined Iran's clear-cut and fundamental positions on Syrian nation and Bashar al-Assad's plan and appreciated Kofi Annan's efforts.

Salehi also expressed hope on results of the meeting for establishment of peace and security in Syria and in the region.

Iranian Foreign Minister rejected any foreign interference in Syria and terrorist attacks towards Syrian nation and said, "The approach for settlement of Syrian issue is merely political and imposition of demands of other countries on Syrian nation is an illogical issue."

The two sides also agreed to continue consultations.

The international conference on Syria could take place in Geneva on June 30.

It plans to discuss further measures and actions to ensure the implementation of Annan's six-point peace plan.
