9 Iranians stuck at Syria to return home: Khatibzadeh

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh announced that nine Iranian nationals who traveled to Turkey aiming to immigrate and were stuck at Syrian border will return home on Saturday.

“Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Iranian ambassador to Turkey and Syria as well as Turkish and Syrian embassies in Tehran joined forces to help these Iranians to return home,” he said.

Media reports in recent months reported that nine Iranian nationals who were in Turkey had been arrested by the Turkish police and handed to terrorist groups in northern Syria.

They had introduced themselves as Syrian Kurds and the Turkish police, according to the reports, had submitted them to terrorist groups in northern Syria.

Families of these nine Iranians had protested in front of Turkish embassy in Tehran and called on Turkey to repatriate them.
