Iran’s focus on seriousness of Vienna talks

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh stressed that Tehran’s focus is on the seriousness of the nuclear talks in Vienna.

Speaking at a weekly press conference on Monday, Khatibzadeh said, “Our focus is on the seriousness of Vienna talks and the other parties know that the focus of Iran in the Vienna talks will be on lifting sanctions”.

“Iranian negotiation team will leave for Vienna with a serious will to lift the sanctions imposed on the Iranian people. We hope that the other sides will also come to Vienna with serious will and good intentions in order to reach a practical and comprehensive agreement,” he added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Khatibzadeh announced that the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi will pay a visit to Tehran today, saying, “Iran-IAEA relations have always tried to be technical and within the framework of safeguards and procedures of the Agency. We hope this trip will be as constructive as before”.

Regarding the visit of an Emirati delegation to Tehran, Khatibzadeh said, "Iran’s Relations with the UAE are on a good track with a common understanding of good neighbor policy, despite some differences at the political and regional levels. Trade and economic relations have reached a remarkable level in recent months".

Regarding the recent attack on the building of the Islamic Republic’s Consulate General in Hamburg, Khatibzadeh stated, “We condemned the attack. We summoned German ambassador to Tehran to express our strong protest at the event and he conveyed Iran’s message of protest to Berlin. German government is following up the incident. It should fulfill its obligation to take action seriously and responsibly to provide security for the diplomatic missions of Iran in Germany in line with the Vienna Convention”.
