US, Iraq to host Iranian film “Careless Crime”

Tehran (ISNA) - Iranian feature film “Careless Crime” directed by Shahram Mokri will be screen at two film festivals in the US and Iraq.

“Careless Crime” will be screened at the 20th edition of Tiburon International Film Festival in San Francisco. The event will be held November 19-25, 2021.

The synopsis of “Careless Crime” reads, “Forty years ago, during the uprising to overthrow the Shah’s regime in Iran, protestors set fire to movie theatres as a way of showing opposition to Western culture. Many cinemas were burned down. In one tragic case, a theatre was set on fire with four hundred people inside, most of whom were burned alive. Forty years have passed and, in contemporary Iran, four individuals also decide to burn a cinema down. Their intended target is a theatre showing a film about an unearthed, unexploded missile. Will past and present meet?”

The cast includes Babak Karimi, Razieh Mansouri, Abolfazl Kahani, Mohammad Sareban, Adel Yaraghi, Mahmoud Behraznia.

Meanwhile, the Iranian film will also take part at the World Cinema section of the Duhok International Film Festival which is now running in Iraqi Kurdistan.

The 8th Duhok International Film Festival will also host three other Iranian films including “A Hero” directed by Asghar Farhadi, “Titi” by Ida Panahandeh and “Zalava” by Arsalan Amiri.
