Humanitarian swap agreed with US, UK in Vienna on release of 10 prisoners: Khatibzadeh

Humanitarian swap agreed with US, UK in Vienna on release of 10 prisoners: Khatibzadeh

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh reacted to US officials’ recent remarks about exchanging prisoners.

“Outrageous = the US denying simple fact that there IS an agreed deal on the matter of the detainees. Even on how to announce it,” Khatibzadeh wrote on his official Twitter account on Sunday.

“Humanitarian swap was agreed with US and UK in Vienna-separate from JCPOA- on release of 10 prisoners on all sides. Iran is ready to proceed TODAY,” he added.

US State Department spokesman Ned Price said yesterday that Iran’s deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s statements on ongoing nuclear talks in Vienna were “outrageous” efforts to deflect blame for the current impasse in talks.

Araghchi wrote on his twitter account that the talks must wait until the new administration in Iran takes office, but that prisoner exchange could take place if the US and the UK stopped linking the issue with the nuclear talks.
