Iran rejects US’ baseless claim about plotting to kidnapping in the country

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh reacted to accusations made by US Justice Department against four Iranians on kidnapping charges.

Answering a question about U.S. federal authorities’ accusation that Iran sought to kidnap an Iranian-American journalist abroad, Khatibzadeh told ISNA news agency, “This new allegation made by US administration, which its overt and covert enmity with Iran is not hidden from anyone, is baseless and ridiculous unworthy of a response”.

“It is not the first time that the US has resorted to such Hollywood scenarios whose sole purpose is to desperately revive its dead wood,” he added.

“Making such an imaginary story is not unlikely by the U.S. Its entire short history is full of assassination, kidnapping and sabotage in other countries. But this time, the US authorities have really insulted the consciousness of the world with this naive plot,” Khatibzadeh stressed.

Khatibzadeh’s remarks came after U.S. federal authorities announced charges against four Iranians on Tuesday for allegedly conspiring to kidnap an Iranian-American journalist as well as a few others living outside of Iran.
