Iran’s president-elect, Pakistani PM hold phone conversation

Tehran (ISNA) – Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan held a phone conversation with Iran’s president-elect Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi.

Congratulating Raisi on his victory in Iran’s 13th presidential election, Imran Khan expressed concern at the worsening security situation in Afghanistan and cautioned that the latest developments could lead to serious repercussions for both Pakistan and Iran, resulting in an influx of refugees towards the bordering areas of the two countries.

He stressed that the best solution for Afghanistan’s crisis is the political solution.

Ebrahim Raisi, for his part, stressed that Afghanistan’s security is important to Iran and the security should be established by the Afghans.

Raisi also expressed satisfaction at the upward trajectory of bilateral relations between Iran and Pakistan and agreed on further boosting existing cooperation, in particular in the economic dimension.
