Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani met with the President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of North Korea, Kim Yong-nam, saying that Iran wishes to see peace and stability in the Korean peninsula.

“We believe that the only way to resolve disputes and disagreements in the Korean peninsula is dialogue and discussion,” President Rouhani said.

The Islamic Republic of Iran and North Korea has had good relations with each other and these relations still continue, said Rouhani, adding: “We believe that all nations around the world must be respected and any kind of intervention in their internal affairs is incorrect”.

In the same meeting, the President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of North Korea also congratulated Rouhani on his re-election and said: “We are willing to develop ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran in various fields including economy, science and technology”.

He also underscored strengthening the role and place of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and said: “We hope constructive cooperation among the member countries of the Non-Aligned Movement are established to serve peace and security through strengthening NAM”.
