Rouhani’s visit to Pakistan will come at the official invitation of Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
“The 13th Economic Cooperation Organization summit will be held Wednesday in Islamabad and president Rouhani will explain Iran’s stance and views,” the deputy chief of staff for communications and information at the president’s office Parviz Esmaeili said.
“Iranian president will meet with heads of participating states on the sidelines of the event. A number of ministers and advisors will also accompany Rouhani during the two-day visit,” he added.
Improving the conditions for the sustainable economic development of member countries and the gradual elimination of trade barriers as well as preparation of joint programs for developing human resource of member states are among the aims of the ECO.
Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Azerbaijan are the 10 members of ECO.
