ITER director-general in Tehran meets AEOI head

TEHRAN (ISNA) –The Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Ali Akbar Salehi met with the Director- General of ITER on Saturday in Tehran.

Bernard Bigot, the director-General of the nuclear fusion megaproject organization known as ITER met with the head of AEOI ,vice-President for Science and Technology, Sorena Sattari, and some nuclear fusion experts.

Bernard Bigot has traveled to Iran heading a delegation of nuclear experts and plans to stay in the country for two days.

Iranian nuclear officials have already visited ITER project, which is underway in southern France, and there agreed to cooperate on the project.

ITER is one of the most ambitious energy projects in the world today underway in southern France, 35 nations are collaborating to build a magnetic fusion device that has been designed to prove the feasibility of fusion as a large-scale and carbon-free source of energy based on the same principle that powers our Sun and stars.

Iran is the sole country in the Middle East that will be cooperating with the other nations on ITER.
